The word shawl is derived from the indo -persian word "shal" which meant a fine woven woollen fabric used as adrape .The origin of shawl are popularey traced to medival period All the evidence like archaeological findings ancient literary reference and travellers show this information about shawl.
HISTORY OF SHAWL 1
Sheeps and goats are the major source for obtaining wool animals fleece or hair the raw material for making woollen fabrics.
shawl history 1:The three most important specimens of fragmentary Indian woolen textiles were found from different sites: two from Palmyra, Syria. and one from Antinoe, Egypt. palmyra was a major roman outpost on the silk road and Antinose was close to the great urban center of Alexandira All theses fragments were identified as made from kashmir wool .close examination revealed they were produced with the same type of four ended twills used to produce shawls in kashmir
