As you all know that paper mache work in Kashmir which was brought in by Zain-ul-Abadin after his return from captivity in Samarkand. At that time it was one of the main employment source to the people of Kashmir, may be with the passage of time things have changed but the basics are still there without whom you cannot expect such an amazing products of paper mache
                          What is papier mache

The basic of paper mache is still same you need pulp wood, mud and walls. The first  paper mache products in Kashmir were kalamdans , long horizontal cases for holding pens, brushes and ink –pots ,but nowadays the range of products is much bigger than earlier nowadays you can see amazing products available in the market .

History of kashmir carpet

There are so many crafts associated with 15 th century  when we talk about these crafts  one such craft is carpet .A carpet is a textile floor covering typically consisting of an upper layers of pile attached to a backing.  the pile was traditionally made from wool. The origin of hand-knotted carpet in the world can be traced back more than 2000 years.  it was sultan Zain-ul- Abadin who brought carpet weavers from central Asia into Kashmir to train the locals inhabitants . sultan  Zain -ul-Abadin introduce karkhans(factories ) for carpet weavers enabled the crafts to flourish.
